Training and Registration

To receive a login and password to file documents in CM/ECF, complete the steps below:

Step 1 - Verify that you meet the requirements

  • Do you have the ability to convert documents to PDF/A format?
  • Do you have internet access? (Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)
  • Have you reviewed Administrative Procedures for Electronic Filing and Verification of Documents?
  • If you are an attorney, have you been admitted to practice in the District of Montana?

Step 2 - Training

 CLE credits are available for eligible attorneys.

Step 3 - Register

Please go to www.PACER.gov to register for e-filing privileges.  Attorneys must be admitted to practice in the District of Montana prior to being registered.  If you are not an attorney or require limited access, you can register for a non-attorney e-filing account through PACER.  If you have questions or need assistance with registration, please contact the PACER Service Center at (800)-676-6856 between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM CT Monday through Friday or by email at pacer@psc.uscourts.gov.

PLEASE ALLOW 24 HOURS AFTER REGISTERING WITH PACER FOR THE COURT TO REVIEW AND APPROVE YOUR REQUEST.  WHEN APPROVED, OR IF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS REQUIRED, AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED DURING REGISTRATION.
